Error Fixes for GTAV PC

Just in case you have been sleeping over the last few days you’ve missed the launched of GTAV PC – with every PC release comes problems – below is a list of known problems and possible fixes, as with every PC hardware differs so some of the fixes will work for some and not others

First up the System Requirements – Grand Theft Auto 5: 

MINIMUM:

  • OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 64 Bit Service Pack 2* (*NVIDIA video card recommended if running Vista OS)
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs) @ 2.5GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB / AMD HD 4870 1GB (DX 10, 10.1, 11)
  • Hard Drive: 65 GB available space
  • Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible
RECOMMENDED:

  • OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHz (8 CPUs)
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD 7870 2GB
  • Hard Drive: 65 GB available space
  • Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible

How to Fix Errors, Bugs and Crashes while Installing Grand Theft Auto 5 ? 

#1: Connection to Download server lost error in GTA 5 : 

The workaround for fixing this issue:

  • Go to installation directory of GTA 5.
  • Now, you need to find file with name “x64(*).rpf.par” (Here * can be any letter)
  • After finding it, delete it (But before, make sure that you have a backup)
  • Now, start downloading the game again.

#2: Launcher has stopped working error : 

First of all, make sure that you are playing the game with updated drivers. If you don’t know how to update the drivers, then we recommend you to use Driver Scanner (It is not adware/spyware. You can cross-check with your antivirus program). This is a tool that updates drivers automatically (with admin’s permission ) after performing a system scan.

#3: Download Speeds gone from decent MB/s to nasty 2kb/s

  • Download UltraSurf
  • Enable
  • Try Download again – you should now be getting more like 500KB +

#4: Unable to detect Windows media player error : 

You will encounter this annoying error as soon as you start installing Grand theft auto 5 on PC. Rockstar took a step forward and released official fix for this issue.

  • Open Control Panel
  • Click Program
  • Click Turn Windows Features On or OFF
  • In the resulting popup, make sure “Windows Media Player” is checked under the “Media Features”

#5: GTA5.exe has stopped working fix: 

We have a workaround that can help you in solving the error. This may work for those who are having problems with DLL files.

  • First of all, navigate to Steamapps folder to find “error.log” file.
  • After finding it, open with notepad.
  • Now, you can see something like “The application caused access violation module in xxxx.dll”
  • Make a note of that Dll File name.

Now,

  • Download Dll-Files Fixer from here
  • After downloading, open “Install Dll Files” tab.
  • Now, input the name of Dll file in the bar and click on “install”
  • The software installs the file in right place and now you should be able to play.

You can also try this workaround.

  • Go to run and type “msconfig”
  • Open Boot and select advanced options.
  • Check number of processors and select it to 12.
  • Now,get back to the game.

#6: Launcher crashes in GTA 5 : 

We have found a workaround for this error. Follow the steps mentioned below. Although this is not an official fix, it is worth trying.

1. Open Device Manager
2. Under “Display Adapters”, disable NVIDIA graphics card
3. Run game on steam
4. Once launcher starts working and game starts, enable NVIDIA graphics card

#7: Msvcp120.dll is missing error/ Any DLL crash Fix in GTA 5 : 

Not only msvcp120.dll file, we have universal solution for all the Dll file errors. It is the Dll-Files fixer. All you need to do is just follow the simple steps listed below and you’ll end up solving the error.

  • First of all, download Dll-Files fixer from here.
  • Now, you can perform a system scan for fixing registry errors (This is optional. Fixing registry errors can really help you at times)
  • Open “Install DLL files” tab.
  • Now, input the name of dll file in the search tab. The fixer will automatically install the file in required location and you can get back to enjoy the game.

#8: FPS stuttering issue Fix: 

You need to use Nvidia Inspector if you are using Nvidia GPU for fixing this issue. If you have Nvidia Inspector, then

  • Go to GTA 5 Driver profiler in Inspector and set v-sync to FORCE ON.
  • Also, enable triple buffering option.
  • Now, disable V-sync from In-game settings.

#9: Very Poor FPS Fix: 

Rockstar didn’t release an official fix for this issue. However, we have some workarounds that can tweak your FPS a bit.

  • First of all, set maximum priority for the game in Task Manager.
  • Now, try #8 fix.
