GTA: San Andreas | Weapons

Weapon Skill Upgrades
Your Weapon Skill increase with every accurate shot you land. Getting a high weapon skill increases your ability with weapons. View Weapon skills by pressing L1 button when holding the weapon in question. The skill level appears in the stat box in the bottom corner of the screen. You can also check weapon stats through the start menu. The Stats menu displays the weapon skill level and a label, such as "poor", "Gangster", or "Hitman". Gangster Level is reached when skill level fills to 20% to 50% of the meter. All Hitman levels are reached when skill levels reach the maximum 100%. Your Weapon Skills improver in these milestons, as well.


Gangster Skill Level
This rule applies to the following weapons:
Silenced Pistol, Desert Eagle, all Shotguns, Tec-9, Micro-SMG, SMG, AK-47, and M4.
When Gangster Level is reached, you can move while in the aiming stance and your lock-on rang, accuracy, rate of fire, and strafe speed increase.

Weapons (with Skill Levels) this rule does not apply to:
9mm Pistol
The 9mm Pistol's Gangster Level Explained
The 9mm Pistol's Gangster level increases lock on range, accuracy and rate of fire. You can already move while aiming and firing this weapon.


Hitman Skill Level

This rule applies to the following weapons:
Silenced Pistol, Desert Eagle, Shotgun, Combat Shotgun, SMG, AK-47and the M4.
Hitman level is reached at maximum weapon skill or 100%. This allows you to fire while moving. Lock-on range, accuracy, rate of fire, and strafe speed also improve.

Weapons (with Skill Levels) this rule does not apply to:
Weapons held in each hand (see below)


Double Weapon Hitman Level

This rule applies to the following weapons:
9mm Pistol, Sawn-Off Shotgun, Tec-9, and The Micro-SMG
You can wield two of the above weapons simultaneously and lock-on range increase.


Arsenal

The following weapons are categorized by weapon slots. CJ has 12 differernt weapon slots, which hold a particular class of weapons and items. You can only carry one weapon per slot, so if that slot is filled you must press the L1 button while standing over the weapon you want to add to the inventory. The old weapon in that slot is lost.

Slot #1: Hand

Weapons in this slot allow you to attack and block. To block, hold R1 to select a victim and press square to block.


Fist
Fist

Description: Who needs weapons when you've got your fist. Swing at anyone that moves and hope they don't get up.

Brass Knuckles
Brass Knuckles

Description: Seriously increase the damage given by swinging your fist.

Slot #2: Melee Weapons

Target select and press Triangle for a single attack, circle for a brutal attack, or continue to hold in circle until CJ buries the chainsaw in the victim's gut.


Slot #3: Handguns

Every weapon in this slot has its own Weapon Skill. All Hitman Skill levels are reached at 100% Weapon skill.


9mm Pistol
Pistol

Description: The basic pistol. This pistol does the least damage per shot that any other pistol.

Dual Wield: Yes

Damage: 25

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 10% Pistol skill.

Silenced 9mm Pistol
Silenced 9mm Pistol

Description: The Silenced 9mm Pistol is not only good for keeping quiet, but it's also five times as powerful as the 9mm pistol.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 40

Notes: Gangster Level is reached at 20% Silenced 9mm Pistol skill.

Desert Eagle
Desert Eagle

Description: This is a very powerful handgun that must be held with two hands to control recoil. Almost twice as powerful as the silenced pistol.

Dual Wield: Yes

Damage: 70

Notes: Ganster Level is reached at 20% Desert Eagle skill.


Slot #4: Shotguns
Every Weapon in this slot has its own Weapon Skill. All Hitman Skill levels are reached at 100% Weapon Skill

Shotgun
Shotgun

Description: This pump action shotgun is useful in causing damage at close range.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 10

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 20% Shotgun skill.

Sawn-Off Shotgun
Sawn-Off Shotgun

Description: This weapon is more powerful than the Shotgun at close range, but needs to be reloaded after firing two shells.

Dual Wield: Yes

Damage: 10

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 20% Sawn-Off Shotgun skill

Combat Shotgun
Combat Shotgun

Description: This shotgun is the most powerful shotgun of the bunch although dual wielding the Sawn-Off will deliver a larger punch.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 15

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 20% Combat Shotgun skill.



Slot #5: Machine Pistols

The first two weapons below are in the Machine Pistols Skill Category. All Hitman Skill levels are reached at 100% Weapon Skill.

Tec-9
Tec-9

Description: The weakest of the uzi-type weapons, but allows you to do Drive-bys.

Dual Wield: Yes

Damage: 20

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 10% Machine Pistol skill.

Micro SMG
Micro SMG

Description: Also known as the Mac-10. This gun has the same stats as the Tec-9, and can also be dual wed.

Dual Wield: Yes

Damage: 20

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 10% Machine Pistol skill.

SMG
SMG

Description: Also known as the MP5. The most powerful weapon in its category, the SMG is the next best thing to having an AK.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 25

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 30% SMG skill.


Slot #6: Assault Rifles
Both Weapons in this slot have thier own Weapon Skill. All Hitman Skill levels are reached at 100% Weapon Skill.

M4
M4

Description: This Military Weapon is top dog. It has one main advantage over the AK-47 and that is that it has 50 bullets per clip while the AK-47 only has 30.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 30

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 20% M4 skill.

AK-47
AK-47

Description: The Ak-47 is a very powerful weapon with great accuracy at medium to long-range shooting.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 30

Notes: Gangster Level reached at 30% AK-47 skill.


Slot #7:Rifles
The Weapons in this Category have no Upgrade ability and no auto targeting feature.

Rifle
Rifle

Description: A powerful and popular brand of rifle. With its Long barrel comes extreme accuracy.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 75

Notes: You cannot move while shooting or aiming this weapon. Hold R1 for a targeting reticle.

Sniper Rifle
Sniper Rifle

Description: The sniper rifle, a long range while very accurate weapon which inflicts massive damage and normally killing in one.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 125

Notes: Hold R1 to Raise the scope to your eye, L2 and R2 to Zoom in or out, and L3 to crouch for improved stability. You cannot move while shooting or aiming this weapon.


Slot #8: Heavy Artillery
The weapons in this Category have no upgrade ability and you cannot crouch while wielding them.

Minigun
Mini Gun

Description: This is one tough piece of hardware! Makes Swiss chesse out of anything and everything.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 140

Notes: This gun has no auto targeting, but you can pull up a targeting reticle by pressing R1 to help your aim.

Flame Thrower
Flame Thrower

Description:

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 25

Notes: Press R1 for a small round targeting reticle and burn baby burn!! Dont get to close to the flames or you'll catch alight.

Rocket Launcher
Rocket Launcher

Description:

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 75

Notes: You cannot shoot this weapon without first pressing the R1 button to bring up the targeting box. Aim and press circle to fire.

Heat Seeker
Heat Seeker

Description: What a beast this is! All the power of the original rocket launcher but now with the ability to home in on vehicles.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: 75

Notes: Press and hold R1 for auto-targeting until targeting reticle turns from green to red. Press Circle to fire a homing Missle. The weapon only targets select vehicles and always the nearest vehicle, aim away from the selected target and scope the desired target.


Slot #9: Thrown Weapons The weapons in this category have no upgrade ability and no Auto-targeting: They're projectiles. The distance that these pojectiles are thrown is based on the amount of time the Circle button is held in----Within Reason.

Grenade

Description: Explosive!

Molotov Cocktail
Molotov Cocktail

Description: Poor man's Grenade. Bottle of gas with a rag fuse.

Notes: ---

Tear Gas
Tear Gas

Description: Tears up the eyes, prevents attackers from engaging, and can actually kill is use enough.

Dual Wield: No

Damage: N/A

Notes: Has no effect on CJ.

Satchel
Satchel

Description: Sticky bombs

Dual Wield: No

Damage: N/A

Notes: Sticks to objects when thrown correctly. Switch to the remote control detonator and press circle to set off.


Slot #10: Hanheld Items
The items in this category have no upgrade ability. All have multiple uses.

Fire Extinguisher
Fire Extinguisher

Description:

Dual Wield: No

Damage: N/A

Notes: Press the Circle button or L1 to shoot fireretardent. Use the R1 button for a better view. Press right and left on the analog Stick to adjust your posistion and aim. Always target the base of the fire to put it out.

Camera
Camera

Description:

Dual Wield: No

Damage: N/A

Notes: Hold R1 to aim; L2 zooms in R2 zooms out. Press Circle to snap picture. Press L1 to save pictures onto the memory card. Particually handy for San Fierro Photo Opportunities. Recruit a gang, take a picture as they pose. Hand the camera to them and they will take your picture!!

Spray Paint
Spray Paint

Description:

Dual Wield: No

Damage: N/A

Notes: Target with R1 and press Circle to spray green paint in the face of the enemy to defeat them. Also used for tagging over rival gang tags.

Notes: Press Circle to engage thermal vision. This makes warm bodies glow in the dark. To turn them off you have to go back to the Thermal Goggles and press circle.

Nightvision
Nightvision Goggles

Description:

Dual Wield: N/A

Damage: N/A

Notes: Press Circle to engage Night vision. This makes have the ability to see in the dark. To turn them off you have to go back to the Night Vision Goggles and press circle.

Parachute
Parachute

Description:

Dual Wield: N/A

Damage: N/A

Notes: You can find these lying around San Andreas in the most unique places. You can also recieve these when jumping out of a plane after completing Pilot school. Press Circle to pull the rip cord.
